It was announced today, Sunday, that the Amazigh artist Mustafa Souliat passed away at the University Hospital in Tangier, after suffering complications from burns sustained in a brutal attack in Al Hoceima.
A video circulating on social media showed a person setting Souliat’s body on fire after pouring gasoline on him in front of bystanders, causing a deep shock within the artistic and cultural communities both in Al Hoceima and across Morocco.
The late artist was known for his significant contributions to art, creativity, and cultural heritage within the Amazigh community and the broader Moroccan society.
Authorities continue to conduct investigations to determine the circumstances of the incident and identify those responsible for this horrific assault.
