Continued Efforts to Control a Forest Fire in Bouhachem, Chefchaouen

Chefchaouen, Morocco – Firefighting teams are continuing their efforts, in close coordination with local authorities, the Royal Gendarmerie, and the Royal Armed Forces, to combat a large fire that broke out last Thursday in the Bouhachem forest, near the Dar Darda commune in the Chefchaouen province.

According to the Provincial Committee for Combating Fires, the flames have so far destroyed about 80 hectares of forest cover. The damaged area primarily includes cork oak trees and secondary vegetation.

The committee reported that this toll is likely to increase, especially as there are still active and burning hotspots as of this Saturday morning, which makes full control of the fire more difficult.
