Achraf Hakimi Breaks His Silence for the First Time: “False Accusations Are Unjust… The Truth Will Prevail”

Casablanca – In his first exclusive interview in months, Moroccan international star Achraf Hakimi, the Paris Saint-Germain defender, has broken his silence over the rape allegations against him, asserting his innocence and describing the accusations as “false and unjust.”

Hakimi’s statements came during his interview with journalist Bertrand Latour on the French channel “Canal+.” The interview coincides with significant developments in a high-profile case, where the Nanterre prosecutor’s office in France, late last July, requested that the case be referred to the criminal court of Hauts-de-Seine.

Hakimi faces a potential prison sentence of up to 15 years if convicted, for alleged incidents that reportedly took place at his home in Boulogne-Billancourt in February 2023. Since March 2023, the international player has consistently maintained that the relationship was consensual, simultaneously accusing the other party of attempting blackmail.

“I am at peace. But to be falsely accused is horrible and unjust. I wouldn’t wish that on anyone. It’s not right. But I know the truth will come out,” Hakimi stated confidently in the television interview.

The PSG defender added, speaking about his focus on the future: “After that, I don’t blame myself for anything. The people who know me are aware of my true character. I am focusing on the important things in my life: my family and football. And I am confident that the truth will emerge.”

These statements align with the position of Hakimi’s lawyer, who had previously told the media outlet “360 Sport” that “we, along with Achraf Hakimi, remain as calm as we were at the beginning of the proceedings. These prosecution requests are incomprehensible and nonsensical in light of the case file’s elements.”

It is worth noting that investigators had found messages on the alleged victim’s phone, exchanged with a friend, suggesting a premeditated plan, one of which read: “We’re going to rob him.”

While the judicial outcome of the case is still pending, Achraf Hakimi appears calm and confident, determined to move past this ordeal and focus on his football career and his future with both his club and the Moroccan national team.
