Sudden Floods in Texas Claim 24 Lives and Leave Over 20 Girls Missing

At least 24 people have died due to sudden floods caused by heavy rainfall in the U.S. state of Texas, according to local authorities.

Reports indicate that more than 20 girls went missing while attending a summer camp in Kerr County, near the banks of a river that rose over six meters in less than two hours.

Authorities stated that approximately 237 people were rescued or evacuated using helicopters in large-scale rescue operations.

Some areas in central Texas experienced rainfall within a few hours on Friday morning equivalent to what they usually receive in an entire month.

The city of Hant, near Kerrville, recorded about 16.5 centimeters of rain in just three hours on Friday morning.

Heavy rainfall is expected to continue throughout Saturday, raising concerns over further flooding risks for the region.
