Following Contact with Fès News, Air Ocean Maroc Clarifies: “Fez Incident Not a Crash, But a Limited Runway Excursion”

In an official response to Fès News, Air Ocean Maroc provided a precise clarification regarding the incident involving one of its aircraft on Friday, April 11, 2025, at Fez Saïss Airport, asserting that it was not a crash, but rather a “limited runway excursion,” with no serious injuries reported.

Aircraft Exited the Runway and Collided with the Fence

In its statement, issued in response to the newspaper’s inquiry, the company explained that the Hawker 800 aircraft, registered under the code CN-TKC, landed normally but was unable to stop completely within the runway boundaries, leading to a collision with the airport’s perimeter fence.

The company confirmed that the crew, consisting of two pilots and a flight attendant, were transferred to the hospital as a precautionary measure and were later discharged after their stable health condition was confirmed. It also emphasized that the aircraft was not carrying any passengers.

Rejection of “Crash” Description and Warning Against Media Sensationalism

In its response to what has been circulating on some platforms, the company expressed its surprise at the incident being described as a “crash,” considering such coverage to be “inaccurate and causing unwarranted concern.”

The statement read:

“We reject the use of the term ‘crash’ because it does not reflect what actually happened. The aircraft landed without any in-flight issues, and the incident occurred only during the stopping phase. We urge media outlets to investigate and rely on official sources.”

Company Commitment and Continued Operations

In concluding its communication with Fès News, Air Ocean Maroc affirmed that the company continues to operate normally and that all scheduled flights are proceeding according to the highest aviation safety standards. It also noted that an official investigation is underway in coordination with the competent authorities and the Bureau of Investigation and Analysis for Civil Aviation Safety (BEA).
