Dr. Ibrahim Sami, a doctor at the International Hospital of Fes, revealed to Fes News the latest updates on the health condition of the crew members of the small aircraft that suffered a serious crash on Friday evening near Fes-Saïs Airport.
The aircraft, which was coming from Marrakech International Airport, crashed into the airport’s wall while attempting to land, injuring three of its crew members: the pilot, the co-pilot, and the flight attendant. They were rushed to the hospital to receive urgent medical care.
Dr. Sami explained that the three injured individuals underwent initial treatment in the emergency department and were then transferred to the radiology department for further examinations. It was found that the co-pilot sustained the most severe injuries, including head trauma, a broken rib in the front part of the chest, and a deep wound in the right leg. The pilot suffered head injuries, while the flight attendant experienced neck pain, but no serious injuries were found.
The crew’s condition was closely monitored overnight in the intensive care unit, and the medical team reported on Saturday morning that their health was stable. They were moved to the intensive care units for continued observation.
Dr. Sami further indicated that the pilot and flight attendant could be discharged later in the day or by Sunday morning, while the co-pilot’s condition required more attention due to the severity of the injuries.
The crash, which occurred near the airport, triggered a state of security and medical alert. An investigation is currently underway to determine the exact causes behind the plane’s crash, which did not have any passengers on board at the time of the incident.
