The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Abroad has implemented a series of measures to enhance the security of its information systems, in line with the provisions of Law No. 20-05 on cybersecurity.
In response to a written question from the National Union of Labor in the House of Advisors, the ministry clarified that it had established a specialized organizational structure to oversee the implementation of information security policies.
As part of strengthening these policies, the ministry allocated 90% of its investments in information systems to modernize the technological infrastructure of the administration, focusing on enhancing security and the efficiency of systems in line with modern technological developments. The measures also include bolstering the security of applications handling sensitive data and adopting a coordinated approach to information security policies at the diplomatic and consular missions to ensure unified security across all posts.
Furthermore, the ministry is working to ensure the continuity of services and implement precautionary measures to prevent service disruptions, in compliance with national cybersecurity recommendations. The technical team responsible for managing information systems benefits from regular training sessions to keep up with the latest technologies in the field. The ministry also organizes awareness programs on cybersecurity for all of its users.
As part of its organizational work, the ministry is continuing to develop an official information security policy that includes cybersecurity risk management and identifies best practices in the field.
Earlier, the Ministry of Employment and Vocational Training’s systems were breached by an Algerian group called “Jabrot Algeria,” which claimed to have obtained sensitive data and published samples of it on social media platforms such as “Telegram.” The group also issued a threat in a message saying, “All your sensitive systems and personal data are at our disposal, so do not test our patience.”
