Ibn Ahmed crime: Pieces of skin from the victim’s mosque annex were initially found

Ibn Ahmed has been rocked by a horrific tragedy following the discovery yesterday evening, coinciding with the call to Asr prayer, of human limbs wrapped in approximately three plastic bags within the women’s restrooms attached to the Grand Mosque in the heart of the city, amidst the shock and disbelief of a large crowd of citizens.

This gruesome discovery immediately mobilized various security agencies and local authorities, who promptly cordoned off the crime scene and launched intensive preliminary investigations. These swift inquiries led to the arrest of an individual originating from Ibn Ahmed, who was present at the crime scene. The suspect is known among residents of the Imzab neighborhood for his aggressive tendencies and erratic behavior, making him the primary focus of initial suspicions in the case. Blood-stained clothing belonging to him was also seized, in addition to personal belongings suspected of belonging to the victim.

Well-informed sources acknowledged that investigators faced significant difficulties during the night of Sunday/Monday in their efforts to piece together the case and locate all parts of the body. The suspect reportedly alternated between confessing to his heinous acts and denying them, further complicating the task of the investigators who spent a sleepless night racing against time to unravel the mystery of the crime and find the remaining parts of the deceased’s body. The suspect remains in police custody for further investigation, the completion of the body’s recovery, and the uncovering of the true motives and reasons behind the commission of this atrocious crime, before being presented to the General Prosecutor for appropriate legal action.

As temperatures rose today, Monday, those following the case flocked to the vicinity of Al-Tawhid Elementary School after a citizen reported foul odors emanating from the fields adjacent to the educational institution. Following a traditional search of the area, fragments of the victim’s skin were initially discovered, including what appeared to be part of the head, which has not yet been found in its entirety. Additionally, skin from the spinal region and human muscle tissue from the thighs were found in three separate locations, relying on the sense of smell and moving between garbage containers. The search of the three locations concluded with the discovery of a jawbone with some teeth, which was seized for forensic analysis.

Citizens Demand Enhanced Security

In the face of this horrific incident, a number of citizens present acknowledged the efforts of the security forces, but in concurring statements to Hespress, they called for greater vigilance and proactive measures to eradicate the sources and causes of crime in the region. They also demanded an increase in the level of security and the recruitment of highly experienced security personnel to confront the evolving nature of crime, in order to prevent similar disasters in the future, along with the need for increased security patrols.

In the same context, the speakers emphasized to Hespress the need for zero tolerance towards deviants and effective coordination with local authorities and the Ministry of Health to rid the city of suspicious individuals and vagrants, improve mental health services, and enhance the capacity for receiving and responding to citizens’ complaints. It is worth noting that, coinciding with the security mobilization, a woman had her handbag containing personal belongings stolen, forcing her to interrupt her work and go to the police station to file a report.
