In a high-level operation carried out by officers of the Judicial Police Department in the city of Fes on the evening of Monday, April 7, authorities arrested the owner of a traditional herbal shop along with three of his assistants, aged between 24 and 65, on suspicion of trafficking in dangerous smuggled medications that pose a threat to public health.
This operation followed thorough investigations that led to the raid of a traditional shop located in the old medina, where the suspects were caught selling large quantities of smuggled medicines under conditions lacking the most basic health and legal safety standards.
The search operation resulted in the seizure of a massive quantity of pills — a total of 92,779 weight-gain pills, in addition to 1,940 sexual enhancement pills, all suspected to contain unauthorized and harmful substances.
The arrested individuals have been placed under investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office, as authorities work to uncover the full scope of this criminal network, including the sources of these hazardous substances and the routes through which they were distributed.
This operation falls within the ongoing efforts of the Fes security services to combat all forms of crime, particularly those that endanger the health and physical well-being of citizens.
