Akhannouch Unveils Details of an Investment Agreement with China Providing 8,500 Jobs… Fez Among the Beneficiaries + (Video)

On Thursday, March 20, in Rabat, Morocco and the leading Chinese textile group “Sunrise” signed an investment agreement aimed at creating 8,500 direct and indirect jobs in the cities of Fez and Skhirat.

In a press statement on the occasion, Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch emphasized that this agreement reflects the strong strategic relations between the Kingdom of Morocco and the People’s Republic of China, thanks to the royal vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI and Chinese President Xi Jinping. He noted that this investment marks a significant step in strengthening economic cooperation between the two countries.

The total value of the investments associated with this agreement amounts to 2.3 billion dirhams. It includes the establishment of two industrial units specializing in the production of textiles, yarn, fabrics, and clothing in both Skhirat and Fez. Akhannouch explained that these projects highlight Morocco’s attractiveness as an investment destination and reinforce its position as a regional industrial hub in the textile sector.

The Prime Minister added that the Chinese group will contribute to the development of local industries, particularly in the production of yarn and fabric, which will enhance the competitiveness of the sector in Morocco and add value to the national textile industry.

This agreement follows a previous meeting between Akhannouch and the president of the “Sunrise” group last September in Shanghai. During that meeting, they discussed ways to implement a strategic investment project aimed at establishing integrated industrial complexes in various regions of the Kingdom. This reaffirms the state’s commitment to supporting major investments in this vital sector.
