State Secretary Lahcen Saadi to Visit Fes-Meknes Region to Support Traditional Craft Industry

Fes News has learned that Mr. Lahcen Saadi, the State Secretary in charge of Traditional Craft Industry, Social Economy, and Solidarity, will pay an official visit to the Fes-Meknes region in mid-April. The visit is expected to include Meknes Province and the provinces of El Hajeb and Ifrane, aiming to assess the state of the traditional craft sector and discuss ways to support and develop it.

As part of the preparations for this visit, a delegation of officials conducted an inspection visit to the Specialized Institute of Traditional Craft Arts in Meknes on Monday, March 17, 2025. The delegation included Abdel Rahim Belkhayat, Regional Director of Traditional Craft Industry in Fes; Abdel Haq Bibah, Regional Director of Traditional Craft Industry in Meknes; Said Wakrim, Head of the Department for Vocational Training and Integration Assistance at the Ministry; Idriss El Abdouni, Vice President of the Chamber of Traditional Craft Industry for the Fes-Meknes region; and Karim Benshamsi, Director of the Specialized Institute of Traditional Craft Arts in Meknes, alongside several officials from the ministry and the chamber.

This preparatory visit aims to ensure the readiness of various facilities that the State Secretary will visit, particularly the Specialized Institute of Traditional Craft Arts in Meknes, which plays a crucial role in training and qualifying artisans. Additionally, an initial plan for the visit was outlined, which includes tours of several sites related to traditional crafts in Meknes Province and the provinces of El Hajeb and Ifrane, as well as meetings with professionals and local officials to explore ways to advance the sector and enhance its contribution to economic and social development.

This visit aligns with government efforts to support traditional artisans and stimulate the social and solidarity economy, in line with national strategies aimed at achieving sustainable development and greater integration of artisans into the economic cycle.
