Walid Regragui Praises Badou Zaki Ahead of Niger-Morocco Match

During the press conference held on Friday, Walid Regragui, the national coach of the Moroccan football team, spoke about Badou Zaki, the coach of the Niger team, and showered praise on his former mentor, whom he will face on March 21 as part of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

Regragui described Zaki as “a great figure and a legend of Moroccan football who has contributed immensely to the national game,” adding, “It is a great honor to see two Moroccan coaches competing in a World Cup qualifying match.”

It is worth noting that the list of 26 players called up by Regragui for the upcoming matches against Niger and Tanzania (on March 21 and 25 in Oujda) as part of the African qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup includes several new additions. Alongside the players who have formed the backbone of the national team for years, four new names will make their debut with the Atlas Lions during these two matches.

These players are: Chemsdine Talbi (Club Brugge/Belgium), Hamza Igamane (Rangers/Scotland), Omar El Hilali (FC Barcelona/Spain), and Bilal Nadir (Olympique Marseille/France). All are talented and ambitious young players who have delivered outstanding performances in recent months with their respective clubs, earning their place in the national team roster.
