Fes News has received an appeal addressed to the Municipality of Meknes and its president, Abbas Maghari, urging early preparations for the Eid al-Fitr 1446 prayer grounds, particularly the 20th August Athletics Complex, which annually witnesses a high turnout of worshippers.
According to the appeal, several citizens and local activists are calling for improved conditions at the prayer site, with a focus on maintaining surrounding facilities, including the garden at the entrance on Ahmed Chawki Street, near the scrap market and in front of the 20th August residential complex. They also emphasized the need for necessary measures to ensure the comfort of worshippers and facilitate smooth entry and exit.
One of the key concerns raised is the partial closure of the main entrance gate during the past two Eid prayers, leading to severe congestion and crowding upon departure. Many worshippers expressed dissatisfaction with this issue and are now urging authorities to fully open the gate this year to prevent overcrowding and ensure a smooth flow of movement, prioritizing public safety.
In light of these concerns, worshippers hope that the Municipality of Meknes will respond promptly and take the necessary steps to create a safe and spiritually uplifting environment for Eid prayers.
