Government spokesperson Mustapha Baitas confirmed during a press conference on the evening of Thursday, February 27, 2025, following the weekly government council meeting, that the widely circulated video titled “Eid is Coming” is an old recording from May 8, 2023, originally related to last year’s Eid al-Adha.
Baitas clarified that certain parties are attempting to mislead public opinion by reposting this video out of context to spread false rumors and create confusion among Moroccans. He emphasized the government’s commitment to transparency in addressing issues affecting citizens and urged people not to fall for misinformation spread on various platforms.
Speaking about the national livestock situation, Baitas pointed out that Morocco has faced consecutive climatic and economic challenges over the past seven years, significantly impacting livestock numbers. According to 2024 statistics, the livestock population has declined by 38% compared to 2016. He added that the government has implemented proactive measures to support the sector, including guidance programs and feed subsidies.
Baitas concluded by affirming the government’s appreciation of the royal message from King Mohammed VI, in which His Majesty urged Moroccans not to sacrifice livestock for Eid this year. This decision, he stressed, will have a positive impact not only this year but also on the future stability of the national herd and the well-being of citizens.
