Moroccan Police Dismantle Gang Specialized in Extortion and Impersonation of Official Employees in Fez

FEZ, Morocco – In a successful security operation, Moroccan police have arrested eight individuals suspected of involvement in extortion, forgery, and impersonation of official figures in the city of Fez.

Security sources reported that the operation took place on Tuesday, August 13th, in coordination between the National Brigade of Judicial Police and the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance. The suspects, aged between 30 and 40 years old, include one person who was wanted at the national level.

According to preliminary investigations, the suspects forged parking tickets bearing the logo of the Fez City Council and wore counterfeit uniforms bearing the name of the same entity. They used these means to extort citizens and car owners, claiming they were providing protection and guarding services for vehicles.

Search operations resulted in the seizure of a range of evidence, including forged tickets, fake uniforms, hats, and vests, as well as cards and stamps belonging to private companies suspected of being used to facilitate their criminal activities.

Security sources confirmed that the suspects have been placed in custody pending the judicial investigation ordered by the competent public prosecutor’s office. The investigation aims to uncover all details of the case and determine the scope of criminal activities attributed to the detainees.
