On the basis of accurate information provided by the General Directorate of National Surveillance, police officers at the Tangier Security Prefecture seized 41,120 hallucinogenic tablets in a security operation that led to the arrest of four people, aged between 36 and 62 years, suspected of being linked to a criminal network active in the illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.
The dismantling of this criminal network comes in the context of deepening the investigation of a person who was caught last Saturday in Salé, just after his arrival on a train from Tangier, in possession of 9983 hallucinogenic tablets of different types, said a statement from the General Directorate of National Security.
The source added that the ongoing research and investigations in this case have enabled the identification of four contributors and accomplices suspected of being linked to this criminal activity, who were arrested during simultaneous security operations in a number of neighborhoods in the city of Tangier.
The seizure and search operations carried out at the homes of the arrested suspects in Tangier enabled them to find in their possession important shipments of psychotropic substances amounting to 41,120 tablets, including 3,000 Ecstasy tablets and 38,120 Revotrel and Trankimazine tablets, in addition to a sum of money suspected to be the proceeds of this criminal activity, the communiqué continued.
All suspects were subjected to judicial investigation, which is being conducted under the supervision of the competent public prosecution, in order to uncover all the circumstances and circumstances of this case, as well as to identify other possible extensions of this criminal activity.
