The local judicial police team in Ben Ahmed, supported by the regional judicial police service in Settat, opened a judicial inquiry on Sunday evening, April 20, under the supervision of the competent public prosecution, following the discovery of human body parts inside the restrooms of the Grand Mosque in the city center.
The judicial police, supported by forensic and technical teams, began field investigations on the same afternoon after human bones and body parts were found wrapped in plastic bags at the mentioned location. At the same time, a number of bladed weapons were seized in the vicinity of the mosque.
Security sources indicated that initial investigations point to a person who shows signs of psychological disturbance and abnormal impulsive behavior. The suspect was apprehended at the crime scene moments before the discovery of the body and was wearing underwear stained with blood.
In a related context, searches conducted at the suspect’s residence led to the seizure of personal belongings and items of dubious origin, the circumstances of which are currently being verified to determine their possible connection to the victim.
The discovered body parts have been sent for genetic analysis to identify the victim, while DNA samples collected from the crime scene and the suspect’s clothing are being analyzed as part of the ongoing investigation to determine the circumstances and details of this horrific crime, and to uncover its motives.
