Rabat Gears Up for Historic Event: Inaugural Women’s Futsal Africa Cup of Nations Kicks Off Amid Great Anticipation

Morocco’s capital, Rabat, is set to host a landmark sporting event as the very first edition of the Women’s Futsal Africa Cup of Nations kicks off on Tuesday, April 22, 2025. The tournament will run until April 30 at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Complex, marking a historic moment for African women’s football.

This championship comes in the wake of growing momentum for women’s football across the continent. It represents a significant step forward, offering African national teams a new platform to compete and demonstrate their talent in the rapidly evolving sport of women’s futsal.

Nine African teams will participate in the tournament, divided into three groups. Each team will play two matches in the group stage, with the top team from each group and the best second-placed team advancing to the semi-finals.

The groups are as follows:

  • Group A: Morocco (Atlas Lionesses), Cameroon, Namibia
  • Group B: Angola, Egypt, Guinea
  • Group C: Senegal, Tanzania, Madagascar

This inaugural edition also presents a golden opportunity for the finalists: the two teams that reach the final will earn the right to represent Africa in the Women’s Futsal World Cup, scheduled to be held in the Philippines from November 21 to December 7, 2025.
