Minister Benmoussa meets with representatives of the private education sector to prepare for the 2024/2025 school year

On Monday, July 29, 2024, Chakib Benmoussa, Minister of National Education, Initial Education and Sports, held a working meeting with representatives of the private education sector in Morocco.

The meeting came within the framework of the activation of the permanent committee between the Ministry and private education bodies, in preparation for the next school entry.

During the meeting, the minister stressed that private education is an essential part of the educational system in Morocco, stressing the ministry’s commitment to take the necessary measures to regulate and develop it in order to improve educational performance and ensure the interest of students and families.

The minister reviewed the model contract that regulates the relationship between families and private education institutions, describing it as an important reference document that guarantees the rights of all parties and puts the student’s interest at the forefront of priorities. He announced a plan to update this contract by the next school year by issuing an updated version and confirming it with a ministerial note to ensure the achievement of its objectives.

In the context of strengthening cooperation with the sector, the Minister stressed the need not to raise tuition fees excessively, calling for dialogue with families and ensuring that the fees are in line with the quality of the educational services provided.

At the end of his speech, the Minister pointed out that the Ministry has prepared proposals to enrich the draft school education law, which is currently being reviewed according to a joint structure with the concerned bodies, expressing his appreciation for the positive outcome of the cooperation between the Ministry and the private education sector. He emphasized the importance of establishing a strategic contract that promotes cooperation, encourages investment, and contributes to improving governance and developing the educational offer.

For their part, representatives of the private education sector affirmed their full readiness for the success of the 2024/2025 school year and their commitment to improving the educational offer in line with the reforms led by the ministry.

The meeting was attended by the President of the Association of Private Education in Morocco, the President of the Union of Free Education and Training in Morocco, the President of the National Association of Private Education and Training Institutions in Morocco, the Vice President of the Private Education University of the General Federation of Moroccan Enterprises, along with representatives of these bodies, the Secretary General of the Ministry and a central team of officials from the concerned directorates.
