Meknes witnesses the inauguration of several development projects on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of King Mohammed VI’s accession to the throne

The city of Meknes on Monday witnessed the inauguration and launch of a number of important development projects on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of His Majesty King Mohammed VI’s accession to the throne.

These projects reflect the Kingdom’s commitment to improving the quality of life of citizens by focusing on vital sectors including health, social sphere, sports and solidarity economy in the sports sector, with the inauguration of the gymnastics hall expansion project at the 20 August Sports Complex in Meknes.

The project, funded by the National Initiative for Human Development and the Meknes Community, aims to strengthen the city’s sports infrastructure. The project includes the rehabilitation of the existing hall with an area of 486 square meters, its expansion with a 153 square meter metal structure, and the creation of an administrative and service space with an area of 180 square meters.

The project, which cost around Dh3.43 million, is expected to take eight months to implement and will provide a modern and suitable space for the practice of gymnastics and related sports, as well as health and basic facilities.

The project to upgrade the Riyadh neighborhood market in the Meknès community was inaugurated under the National Initiative for Human Development program, with an investment of 2.35 million dirhams.

This project aims to modernize the commercial infrastructure, improve the working conditions of traders, renovate stalls, improve lighting and sanitation, and create more functional and hygienic spaces.

President of the Collective Council of Meknes, Jawad Bahji, emphasized the importance of these projects in promoting urban development and boosting the local economy, which contributes to improving the standard of living of the population and creating new job opportunities.

In the health field, a village dispensary was inaugurated in the Tamsna roundabout of the Dkhissa community, at a total cost of 1.342 million dirhams, including 1.2 million dirhams for works and 134,524 dirhams for equipment, funded by the National Initiative for Human Development (NIHD).

The clinic includes state-of-the-art medical facilities, including a treatment room, a multidisciplinary consultation room, a mother and child health program room, a pharmacy and reception spaces.

This project will contribute to facilitating access to health services for the region’s residents and meeting their basic needs, said Mohamed El Bachiri, head of the Dkhissa community.

Two fully equipped ambulances were also distributed to the communities of Mahia and Nzala Beni Ammar, as part of an initiative by the Meknes Municipality, to enhance health services in these two communities.
