Navy patrol presents a group of boats in difficulty between Laayoune and Tarfaya to illegal immigrants

On Sunday, two coast guard units of the Royal Navy were mobilised on a maritime patrol mission to assist a group of boats in difficulty between Laayoune and Tarfaya with irregular migrants intending to travel to the Canary Islands.

A total of 180 people were transported on the two boats, including 93 Moroccans and 87 sub-Saharan Africans, according to a press release issued by the General Command of the Royal Armed Forces.

Medical assistance was provided to the rescued individuals on board the boats before they were safely transported to the ports of Laayoune and Tarfaya, where they were handed over to the Royal Gendarmerie for the usual administrative procedures.
