Fes – Residents living near Nargis Roundabout in the Saiss District of the city of Fes have expressed growing frustration over nighttime disturbances caused by the continuous activity of some restaurants and commercial establishments, in addition to noise from cars and motorcycles. They are calling on the competent authorities to restore a balance between economic activity and residents’ right to peace and quiet.
According to several complaints received by Fes News, noise generated by some restaurants and cafés continues until the late hours of the night. A number of residents stated that the disturbance sometimes lasts until 4:00 a.m., affecting the comfort of families, children, elderly people, and patients.
Several affected residents also said that the area experiences heavy traffic from cars and motorcycles producing excessive noise during nighttime hours. They further pointed to parking disorder caused by some visitors who fail to respect legal parking regulations, obstructing traffic and making it difficult for residents to access their homes, particularly during peak evening hours.
Residents emphasized that the neighborhood is densely populated, making the continuation of these disturbances a daily source of inconvenience. They called for practical solutions that would allow commercial activities to continue without compromising residents’ right to tranquility and rest.
The residents are urging the provincial authorities, local authorities, National Police, Administrative Police, and the Saiss District Council to strengthen monitoring efforts, enforce regulations governing business operating hours, address noise caused by vehicles and motorcycles, ensure compliance with legal parking rules, and take the necessary measures to preserve public peace and improve the quality of life in the neighborhood.
