Taounate — Local community actors in the Jahdial neighborhood of Taounate Province have expressed growing concern over the deteriorating condition of a main street in the area, following the appearance and expansion of serious cracks in the roadway. According to residents, the situation poses a direct threat to the safety of pedestrians and road users and endangers the surroundings of the nearby neighborhood mosque.
According to local sources, this road section serves as the neighborhood’s primary artery and experiences heavy daily traffic. However, the widening cracks and signs of ground instability have heightened concerns, particularly during periods of rainfall, when damage could worsen and risks could increase significantly.
The same sources stressed that the current situation persists without any notable on-site intervention, either from the municipal council or from the competent authorities, despite repeated alerts. They warned that delays in preventive action could lead to serious accidents and significantly raise future repair costs.
Local actors are therefore calling for urgent intervention to carry out a technical assessment of the situation and to take the necessary measures to secure the road section, in order to protect the safety of residents and neighborhood facilities, foremost among them the mosque.
The newspaper places this issue at the disposal of the municipal council and local authorities in the city of Taounate to clarify their position, and it will publish any official clarification or response upon receipt, in line with the right of reply.
