FES NEWS MEDIA – PROVINCE OF TAOUNATE: The Governor of the Province of Taounate chaired an expanded coordination meeting of the Provincial Vigilance Committee at the provincial headquarters, dedicated to reviewing and activating proactive measures aimed at preventing flood and torrent risks and mitigating the impact of cold waves and snowfall for the 2026–2027 winter season, in the presence of security services, Civil Protection, provincial directors of Equipment, Water, Health, and Agriculture, and local authority representatives.
The approved provincial action plan includes a comprehensive mapping of road segments, valley bridges, and mountain axes vulnerable to landslides or temporary traffic disruptions across the districts of Taounate, Ghafsai, Karia Ba Mohamed, and Tissa, mobilizing snowplows, bulldozers, and engineering machinery belonging to the Provincial Directorate of Equipment and territorial commune groupings to ensure rapid intervention and prevent rural isolation, alongside clearing riverbeds adjacent to residential areas.
Mobile Medical Units for Mountain Villages and Acceleration of Structural Projects
On the social and healthcare front, the Provincial Vigilance Committee in the Province of Taounate adopted an integrated schedule of multidisciplinary mobile medical caravans and health units targeting remote mountain villages, coupled with a proactive census of pregnant women, chronic disease patients, and homeless individuals to ensure timely care in coordination with the Provincial Delegation of Health and Social Protection and the National Initiative for Human Development (INDH).
Alongside seasonal vigilance preparedness, provincial authorities in the Province of Taounate and the Taounate Provincial Council continue to monitor progress on major development projects across the province, led by rural potable water supply networks and healthcare and educational infrastructure upgrades designed to reduce territorial disparities.
