Taounate Mobilizes to Face the Cold Wave… Field Interventions and Securing Essential Services

Taounate – Over the past few days, provincial authorities in Taounate have launched a series of field interventions to address the effects of the cold wave and weather fluctuations affecting the province. These actions come as part of the implementation of the High Royal Instructions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, calling for the full mobilization of human and logistical resources to protect populations impacted by harsh weather conditions.

According to available information, the Governor of Taounate Province led on-the-ground operations alongside the Provincial Monitoring and Vigilance Committee, covering several areas affected by heavy rainfall. These visits aimed to assess the situation directly, accelerate the pace of interventions, and ensure the provision of citizens’ basic needs, particularly with regard to mobility and supplies.

In this context, local authorities and territorial communes mobilized all available resources, with the participation of machinery from the inter-municipal group “Al Taâwoun”, as well as equipment belonging to companies and contractors working on road and water infrastructure projects in the province. These efforts resulted in the removal of mud and rocks and the clearing of several damaged road sections, especially at critical black spots that had been hindering traffic flow.

At the same time, the Provincial Directorate of Equipment, Transport, and Logistics continued its interventions to repair and maintain classified roads that had sustained damage, in order to ensure road users’ safety and preserve connectivity between the various communes of the province.

On the social front, the interventions included the organization of several multidisciplinary medical caravans, supervised by the Provincial Delegation of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, in partnership with local civil society organizations, as part of the “Ri‘aya” initiative. These caravans targeted residents of areas affected by the cold wave.

Additionally, local authorities in the Pashalik of Qaria Ba Mohamed, in coordination with the Provincial Directorate of National Cooperation, worked to shelter homeless individuals and travelers at the temporary reception center designated for this purpose. Blankets, clothing, and meals were provided as part of a humanitarian approach aimed at protecting vulnerable groups.

According to observers, these interventions reflect a high level of engagement and coordination among the various stakeholders in the province, with the goal of mitigating the repercussions of severe weather conditions and ensuring the continuity of residents’ daily activities under safe conditions.
