Taounate – Local civil society actors have reported the appearance of visible cracks on National Road No. 8, along the road section linking Ain Aicha and Ouled Daoud. This stretch is of recent construction and, according to circulating information, has not yet been officially handed over on a final basis.
According to the same sources, the condition of the road—despite the recent completion of works—has raised questions among residents and road users regarding the quality of the construction and the standards applied, particularly in light of the emergence of longitudinal cracks along the center of the roadway.
Local actors are calling for a technical investigation to determine the causes of these cracks and to establish responsibilities in accordance with the applicable procedures. They also stress the importance of complying with contractual specifications and road safety standards, given the vital role this axis plays in connectivity and mobility.
Pending any official clarification from the competent authorities, the same sources emphasized the need for swift intervention to address the situation, prevent further deterioration, and ensure the safety of road users, especially since this section is considered one of the national roads with significant daily traffic.
