Rabat — The Ministry of the Interior has called on citizens to exercise the highest levels of vigilance and caution, and to take all necessary preventive measures and precautions, in light of notable weather disturbances expected to affect the Kingdom in the coming days, according to updated warning bulletins issued by the General Directorate of Meteorology.
In a statement, the Ministry explained that these disturbances will be characterized by unstable weather conditions and heavy to very heavy rainfall, which may be accompanied by localized thunderstorms, in addition to snowfall over high-altitude areas and strong winds expected in several regions of the country. Such conditions could pose potential risks to the safety of people and property.
In this context, the Ministry urged citizens not to take risks by crossing flood-prone road sections, wadis, or low-lying areas that may experience sudden flooding or flash flows. It also called for avoiding any behavior with unforeseen consequences that could endanger personal safety or the safety of others.
The Ministry further recommended postponing non-essential travel and movements, especially in areas affected by these weather fluctuations, while stressing the need to strictly comply with the instructions and guidance issued by public authorities and specialized intervention teams.
At the same time, the Ministry of the Interior confirmed that local authorities, in coordination with the various relevant services and sectors, have taken a set of preventive and anticipatory measures to address the potential impacts of these weather conditions. These measures include field-based preventive interventions such as cleaning and maintaining drainage and sewer networks, clearing watercourses and sensitive sections, and treating known black spots prone to water accumulation.
The same source added that these actions also involved mobilizing human resources and deploying the necessary logistical means, with all available capacities placed on maximum alert to ensure rapid intervention, provide assistance when needed, and protect the safety of citizens and their property.
The Ministry of the Interior concluded its statement by renewing its call to all citizens to act responsibly, engage positively, and strictly adhere to the instructions and guidelines issued by the competent authorities, in order to reduce potential risks and ensure everyone’s safety.
