Fes Mobilizes Health Teams at the Sports Complex Ahead of Nigeria–Uganda AFCON Match

The sports complex in Fes witnessed intensive health and logistical preparations on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, just hours before kick-off of the match between the Nigerian national team and their Ugandan counterpart, as part of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) – Morocco. These measures aim to enhance readiness and ensure the health and safety of spectators.

In this context, four medical examination and nursing rooms were set up within the stadium premises at the initiative of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection. The facilities were equipped with modern medical equipment and underwent inspection visits by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the supervising ministry to ensure compliance with internationally recognized standards.

The preparations also included the deployment of medical and nursing teams at first-aid points inside and outside the stadium, in anticipation of any potential health emergencies among fans. In parallel, health and technical staff conducted on-site simulation drills using ambulances equipped with transport and resuscitation equipment, alongside mobile medical units stationed around the stadium, to guarantee rapid intervention and the transfer of critical cases to hospital facilities when necessary.

Coordination and logistics play a key role in this effort. Medical, nursing, and technical teams from the Regional Directorate of Health and Social Protection for the Fes–Meknes region, under the supervision of the Ministry, are implementing epidemic surveillance protocols, securing reserve stocks of medicines and medical supplies, and strengthening coordination with nearby hospitals and health centers, as well as facilities close to the teams’ accommodation hotels.

Round-the-clock medical and nursing care teams have also been established as part of a national plan for exceptional and proactive health coverage launched by the Ministry of Health and Social Protection. The initiative aims to ensure appropriate health conditions and guarantee the safety of all stakeholders and spectators during this continental sporting event.
