Temporary Isolation Threatens Rural Hamlets as Soil Erosion Cuts Road Linking Sidi Al-Makhfi and Tamzkanah

Fes News has learned that the road connecting the communes of Sidi Al-Makhfi and Tamzkanah via Oued Al-Maleh was cut off yesterday near the Oued Al-Maleh bridge area, after a soil erosion incident caused earth and rocks to fall onto the roadway.

According to available information, the erosion occurred alongside a rocky earthen slope, resulting in a complete traffic disruption and preventing vehicles from crossing. Concerns have been raised about the erosion widening or new landslides occurring, especially if unstable weather continues or the ground becomes saturated with water.

Local stakeholders, through circulated calls, urged the relevant authorities to intervene to reopen the road, remove debris, and secure the affected section, while taking necessary precautionary measures to protect road users—particularly students, patients, and transportation means linked to daily travel between hamlets and nearby centers.

Fes News advises road users to avoid passing through the affected area until intervention works are completed, and to rely on available local alternative routes if any, while exercising caution near slopes.
