Local authorities in the city of Fes have received an official letter containing the resignation of the head of the Al-Mariniyyin District Council from his duties, according to the document reviewed by Fes News.
Based on the content of the letter addressed to the Governor of Fes Prefecture and the Wali of the Fes–Meknes Region (under the supervision of the head of the Urban District of Cherarda), the official submitted his resignation from the presidency of the district council, citing Articles 59 and 243 of Organic Law 113.14 on local authorities.
In the document, the resigning president attributed his decision to what he described as personal considerations—“particularly health- and family-related”—as well as reasons linked to the need to focus on his private work.
He also expressed gratitude for the period he spent leading the council, saying it enabled him to “accumulate experience” and provide services to residents within the scope of his assigned responsibilities.
The stamps attached to the document show a date of December 25, 2025, with another stamp indicating it was filed with the relevant departments on December 26, 2025.
This resignation has raised questions in local circles about how the next stage will be managed within the Al-Mariniyyin District Council, and about the legal and regulatory procedures for appointing a replacement, in accordance with the applicable rules.
