Ifrane Province: emergency operation ends 48-hour cold isolation of a family trapped in snow

Local authorities, along with the Royal Gendarmerie and Civil Protection services, carried out an emergency intervention in Hbri, under the municipality of Tikrikra in Ifrane Province, resulting in the rescue of a family described as being in a critical situation due to a sharp drop in temperatures, according to preliminary information.

The same sources reported that the head of the household suffered a health episode while the home ran out of heating means. The family included two young girls, one of them an infant, prompting an urgent call for assistance.

According to available details, rescue teams faced difficulties due to rough terrain and accumulated snow, before managing to reach the family using a snow bike/snowmobile, traveling a distance of nearly 16 kilometers to access the location.

The family members were then transferred to 20 August Hospital in Azrou to receive necessary first aid and medical care. The intervention—according to what has been circulated—highlighted the importance of field readiness and coordination among the concerned services during periods of severe weather in mountainous areas.
