Local stakeholders in the commune of Aïn Mediouna, Taounate Province, have submitted what they described as an “urgent” request to the provincial governor, calling for exceptional intervention to repair the road linking Beni Walid and Aïn Mediouna, following damage that has reportedly caused a near disruption of the main route leading to Douar Zarifia.
According to consistent local sources, heavy rainfall recently experienced in the area led to the deterioration of several sections of the road, raising serious concerns among residents about user safety, particularly given the lack of practical alternative routes for reaching the commune center to attend to administrative, economic, and social needs.
The same sources stressed that this road segment represents the primary access point connecting the douar to essential facilities and services, warning that the continuation of the current situation could further restrict access to public services and exacerbate the hardship faced by residents, especially during rainy periods.
Local sources also indicated that, prior to submitting the letter to the governor, those behind the request had contacted the President of the Aïn Mediouna Communal Council on several occasions, during which—according to their account—the limited financial and logistical capacities of the commune to address the issue independently were acknowledged.
In this context, the same sources explained that appealing directly to the provincial governor was motivated by the desire for a swift and effective response, citing the existence of a provincial emergency monitoring committee tasked with addressing issues related to adverse weather conditions. They emphasized that the request falls within a broader approach aimed at breaking isolation and preventing potential risks to road users.
