Meknes – Agencies

Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Asma, President of the Lalla Asma Foundation, presided on Monday, December 8, 2025, over the inauguration of the “Princess Lalla Asma” Center in Meknes, which represents a regional hub of excellence for comprehensive and completely free care of deaf and hard-of-hearing children from neighboring cities and communes, from preschool to sixth grade of primary school.

This center, the third in the integrated model adopted by the Foundation after the Rabat and Tangier centers, comes within the framework of the enlightened vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God grant him victory, which places inclusion, dignity, and equity at the heart of national development, reflecting Her Highness’s deep humanitarian commitment that has changed the lives of thousands of children.

Comprehensive Care and Vocational Training

The center currently accompanies 56 students, most of whom suffer from severe deafness, through a program combining education, sign language, speech therapy, and social support. Additionally, 30 young men and women are pursuing vocational training in hairdressing, tailoring, sewing, and cooking assistance, under the supervision of trainers from the Office of Vocational Training and Employment Promotion, to enable their integration into the labor market.

The center includes a room for parent training, another for speech therapy supervised by a specialist from the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, and rooms for therapies and rehabilitation, in addition to a play area, sports field, and equipped outdoor zones. It also provides technical follow-up for children who have received cochlear implants, including examinations, programming, and repairs.

Residential Accommodation for Equal Opportunities

The center features residential accommodation for 16 children (eight double rooms), designated for children from remote communes, to ensure stable and continuous schooling, responding to a territorial reality where daily travel is difficult for families.

Activities of Her Highness and Prominent Officials

Her Royal Highness followed artistic activities in the multidisciplinary hall, then a basketball match lit up by Mrs. Nezha Bidouane, President of the Royal Moroccan Federation of Sports for All. Upon arrival, an Auxiliary Forces formation presented honors, before being greeted by Minister of National Education, Preschool, and Sports Mr. Mohamed Saad Berrada, Minister of Solidarity, Social Integration, and Family Mrs. Naima Benyahya, National Coordinator Wali of the National Initiative for Human Development Mr. Mohamed Dardouri, Governor of Meknes Province Mr. Abdelghani Sabbar, President of Fez-Meknes Region Mr. Abdelwahed Ansari, President of Meknes Municipal Council Mr. Abbas Lmaghary, Ambassador General Director of the Moroccan Agency for International Cooperation Mr. Mohamed Methqal, and Delegate President of the Lalla Asma Foundation Mr. Karim Sqalli, in addition to the Wali of Fez-Meknes Region and Governor of Fez Province Mr. Khaled Ait Taleb.
