Urgent: Public lighting outage in Al-Oyoun, Ras Ajnan, Shaq Badangla, Aqabat Al-Firan, and the State Complex in Fez

Since sunset today, the neighborhoods of Al-Oyoun, Ras Ajnan, Shaq Badangla, Aqabat Al-Firan, and the State Complex in Fez have experienced a complete public lighting outage. These areas fall under the territorial jurisdiction of the administrative annex Al-Bat’ha, in the Fez city district.

These neighborhoods are busy with numerous guesthouses and continuous tourist activity, which means the absence of public lighting poses a direct threat to the safety of both residents and visitors. The darkness creates increased risks of security incidents and accidents due to poor visibility.

Despite the hours passing since the outage began, there has been no recorded intervention or response from the responsible authorities so far, fueling the concerns and frustrations of the local population over the delay in resolving the issue, especially as these are vital, high-traffic areas.

Residents have called on the relevant bodies for urgent action to restore electricity and secure adequate lighting to protect both the community and tourists. Moreover, they stress the importance of implementing proactive plans to prevent recurring power outages in sensitive urban zones with a high density of population and tourism.

This new electrical crisis highlights the ongoing demands from citizens to improve infrastructure services and ensure their reliability, particularly in dynamic and touristic neighborhoods, making rapid response by authorities crucial to maintaining public safety and order.
