Security services in Meknes arrested a young man in the Sidi Omar neighborhood on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, following audio recordings attributed to him that contain direct incitement encouraging protesters to attack and assault security forces and then flee.
According to information received by Meknes Press, the suspect, detained today, is believed to have circulated these audio recordings via instant messaging applications, expressing extreme hatred toward public security forces and urging violence against them, saying phrases such as: “If a cop is near me, I might kill him. We don’t fear the police, it’s just that they shouldn’t catch you, that’s why we run away… hit and run… those who stay standing lose their future, they have a criminal record… but those who flee have a clean background, hit and run… kill with determination, know how to escape and hide, I know the alleys well…” and other content directly inciting violence, distorting peaceful protests into attacks on security forces, chaos, riots, and vandalism.
These dangerous audio recordings triggered swift action by the relevant authorities, who launched technical and field investigations that led to identifying the suspect’s identity and location, based on precise intelligence from the National Territorial Surveillance Directorate. This enabled his arrest and referral for investigation.
This operation comes as part of ongoing security efforts to monitor and track acts that threaten public order or incite violence. All legal measures have been taken to ensure accountability for anyone proven to be involved in stirring unrest or compromising the safety of citizens and public forces.
This incident is part of a series of preemptive security interventions in Meknes amid the spread of inciting calls on social media linked to “Generation Z” protests, which authorities are working resolutely to address within the framework of the law.
In a related context, human rights activists warned of the dangers of succumbing to calls made by some suspects through messaging apps to incite violence and turn protests from peaceful, civil expressions into chaotic and destructive actions. These calls have, so far, resulted in the arrest of hundreds of suspects across various provinces of the Kingdom, including both instigators and participants in violent and riotous acts, who face prison sentences ranging from 20 years to life imprisonment.
