Interior Minister Abdelouafi Laftit has appointed Farid Shouraq, the former governor of the Marrakech-Safi region, and Mouad Jamai, governor of the Fes-Meknes region, as new members of his office. This notable move comes just three months after both were dismissed from their positions due to what was then considered a breach of royal directives related to the management of Eid al-Adha affairs and practices deemed inconsistent with the role of administrative officials.
This decision raises several questions regarding its background and timing. Observers suggest that reassigning the dismissed governors to the minister’s office may represent a form of “recycling” senior cadres who have accumulated extensive field experience in territorial governance.
