Fez – The Douar Riāfa neighborhood in the Bab Ftouh area of Fez was shaken by a tragic incident after a mentally disturbed individual carried out a knife attack inside a family home. According to Al-Massae newspaper on Monday, the assailant targeted family members for unknown reasons, resulting in several people sustaining injuries of varying severity.
Despite rapid intervention efforts, the suspect ended his own life by stabbing himself with the same knife used in the brutal assault, a scene that shocked local residents.
A heavy security and local authority response was immediately mobilized following the incident, with police and local officials arriving promptly at the scene. The civil protection services quickly evacuated all injured persons to the emergencies department at Al-Ghassani Regional Hospital for necessary medical treatment.
The attacker’s body remains held at the hospital morgue pending the outcome of investigations to be conducted by the Public Prosecutor’s Office, which will determine the judicial procedures required to uncover the circumstances and motives behind the attack.
