Fez – Several readers of the newspaper, residents of the Bab Al-Ghoul neighborhood in Fez, have reported that public lighting in the area has been out for about a week, specifically from Slayki Clinic to Al-Ghasani Hospital. The residents have expressed growing concern over this outage, which threatens their safety and security, especially in the absence of any swift intervention to fix the faults.
In documented statements, the residents attributed responsibility for this situation to the Fez Municipal Council, the concerned territorial district, and the company delegated to manage the public lighting service. They affirmed that these three parties bear full responsibility for the continued outage, demanding an urgent investigation and immediate measures to restore the lighting as soon as possible.
Eyewitnesses add that the ongoing outage increases security risks, with a rise in accidents and thefts occurring in unlit areas. They pointed out that the main road stretching from Slayki Clinic to Al-Ghasani Hospital experiences heavy traffic that extends into late hours, making the lighting malfunction unacceptable due to public interest.
Residents also called on the relevant authorities to activate periodic and preventive maintenance systems and to maintain transparency in communication regarding the reasons for the outage and how to address it, to avoid repeating such disruptions that negatively impact the quality of life in this vital neighborhood of Fez.
It is worth noting that these complaints align with previous local media reports addressing the weak level of public lighting in several vital streets of Fez, reflecting real challenges in managing local public facilities.
