Meknes Celebrates the 20th Edition of the International Urban Arts Festival

Meknes, Morocco – The city of Meknes is gearing up to host the 20th edition of the International Urban Arts Festival (FMUD) from September 6 to 15, 2025. The festival will be held under the theme: “My Talent, My Citizenship” (Mon Talent, ma Citoyenneté).

Two Decades of Creativity

Organized by the “Amal Youth of Morocco for Free Urban Dance” association (founded in 2008 at the Abdelkrim El Khattabi Youth Center in Meknes), this year’s festival marks two decades of promoting urban culture in Morocco and abroad.

According to the festival’s founder and president, Amine Wakrim, “urban culture has proven over the years that it is a universal language capable of uniting generations and building bridges between cultures.” He affirmed that this celebratory edition is a milestone for honoring the past and looking toward the future, while highlighting the central role of youth in artistic expression.

Diverse Program

The 20th edition features a rich program of activities, including:

  • National competitions in graffiti, street sports, rap music, beatboxing, and Batucada.
  • International competitions in breakdancing and hip-hop.
  • The creation of massive murals to transform Meknes into an open-air art gallery.
  • Training workshops and various musical and artistic performances.
  • An artistic parade starting from Kornit Park and traversing the streets of Meknes to the French Institute.
  • A socio-cultural and sports caravan that will tour several cities in the region, such as Taza, Azrou, Wislane, Ain Louh, and Moulay Idriss Zerhoun, among others.

Impact and Participation

Over 800 Moroccan and international artists and athletes will participate in this edition. More than 3,000 children will benefit from the caravan’s program, and the artistic and logistical crew includes over 80 young people from Meknes. Additionally, more than 50 international and national experts and judges will lead the workshops and competitions.
