The mystery of the murder of the doctor in Fez: French authorities arrest the accused husband and reveal new details

In a new development in the case of the murdered doctor in Fez, French authorities arrested this morning, Tuesday, July 29, 2025, the victim’s husband, the main Moroccan suspect in the crime. This step follows the disappearance of the 39-year-old doctor about two weeks ago under mysterious circumstances in Fez, where contact was lost with her on July 14 after leaving her workplace at the Regional Health Delegation in Fez.

Investigations revealed that the doctor’s body was found buried in the garden of a family home in the Oulad Zbair area of Taza province, three days after her disappearance, specifically on the evening of Thursday, July 17. Field investigations uncovered traces of blood inside the husband’s car, which he left in the garage before traveling to France.

The Public Prosecutor’s Office at the Fez Court of Appeal issued an international arrest warrant for the husband, who is also a doctor employed at the Al-Ghassani Regional Hospital, following the collection of technical and material evidence reinforcing suspicions about his involvement in the crime. The data indicate a severe deterioration in the marital relationship over recent months, amid escalating personal disputes between the two.

Further investigations showed that the crime took place within Fez before the body was moved to the Oulad Zbair area, about 125 kilometers away, in an attempt to conceal evidence.

Judicial authorities in Morocco continue to coordinate with their French counterparts to complete the extradition procedures for the suspect to be brought before Moroccan justice. He is expected to face serious charges related to premeditated murder and concealment of the body.

Meanwhile, the Public Prosecutor’s Office continues to oversee technical investigations, which include examining mobile phone data, analyzing biological evidence, and interviewing witnesses connected to the case, aiming to unravel all circumstances surrounding this crime that shocked public opinion, especially among health sector professionals in the Fez-Meknes region.
