On the occasion of the 26th anniversary of His Majesty King Mohammed VI’s accession to the throne of his ancestors, and in response to the needs expressed by the province governors and heads of communes in the region during the territorial diagnosis phase as part of preparing the 2022-2027 regional development program, and to strengthen spatial justice in access to basic services, Mr. Abdelwahed Ansari, President of the Fès-Meknès Regional Council, alongside the Wali of the Fès-Meknès region and Acting Governor of Fès Province, as well as the vice presidents and members of the council, along with several heads of communes and decentralized department heads, chaired the launch ceremony for distributing 130 school buses to the communes of the region on Friday, July 25, 2025, in Fès.
This initiative comes within a participatory and integrated approach aimed at enhancing the infrastructure of school transportation, reducing school dropout rates—especially among girls in rural areas and regions with difficult terrain—and alleviating the economic burden on low-income families. It also seeks to establish inclusive and equitable education in line with fair territorial development.
This strategic project is one of the largest initiatives undertaken by the regional council in the field of school transportation, building upon previous efforts made by the council in past years in the same context.
Each bus has a seating capacity of 26 passengers. This important initiative comes at this particular time to ensure that the targeted students benefit from this service in tandem with the start of the 2025/2026 academic year, thereby promoting regular and safe attendance at school.
