As part of ongoing efforts to curb the stray dog phenomenon that has become a serious threat to the safety of city residents, local authorities in the Zouagha neighborhood of Fez launched a large-scale campaign on the morning of Saturday, July 19, 2025.
The campaign was led by the commanders of the administrative divisions of Anbera and Zouagha, accompanied by local officials and relevant municipal services. They managed to capture nearly 40 stray dogs during operations conducted across several neighborhoods within the jurisdiction of the two divisions.
This initiative came in response to increasing complaints from residents who suffer from the widespread presence of stray dogs roaming the streets, especially following a series of attacks on passersby, the latest being an assault on a British tourist in the area.
Informed sources confirmed that the local authorities will continue these organized campaigns to combat the phenomenon and to ensure safe environments for residents, aiming to protect public health and maintain peace in the affected neighborhoods.
