Uprising Among Educational Staff in Fès Directorate Over Unauthorized Training Sessions and Withholding of Exit Reports at Ibn Zaidoun Middle School

The Fès Directorate witnessed a widespread uprising by educational staff following the imposition of unauthorized training sessions by the provincial directorate after the official deadline for signing exit reports, in what teachers consider an attempt to circumvent their right to summer vacation. Despite the cooperative response of most school principals to the teachers’ demands, the administration of Ibn Zaidoun Middle School opposed the teachers’ will, attempting to create unrest within the directorate.

After a comprehensive boycott of training sessions scheduled outside official working hours and after the legal end of the academic year, some teaching staff at the school were surprised by the educational administration’s withholding of exit reports and refusal to allow the concerned teachers to sign them.

In this context, the National Union of Education Employees, fulfilling its trade union responsibilities, initiated a responsible dialogue with the concerned administration to defuse tensions and enable teachers to exercise their right to sign the exit reports. However, this dialogue did not receive the required response, prompting the teachers to launch an open-ended sit-in to defend their legitimate rights.

The regional office of the National Union of Education Employees in Fès issued a statement declaring:

  • Its condemnation of the Ministry and its external services for scheduling training sessions after the official deadline for signing exit reports, a blatant violation of the regulatory framework governing the 2024-2025 academic year.
  • Its strong denunciation of the obstinacy of Ibn Zaidoun Middle School’s administration in refusing to allow teachers to sign exit reports, contrary to other institutions in the province involved in leadership training.
  • Its criticism of the provincial directorate’s silence regarding this aberrant and authoritarian behavior.
  • Its high regard for the teachers who have engaged and continue to engage in responsible struggle defending their rights.
  • Its unconditional support for the teachers’ just struggle in all its forms.
  • Its full holding of the provincial directorate responsible for any developments in the ongoing teachers’ struggle.
  • Its rejection of all childish attempts aimed at breaking the teachers’ movement to serve narrow agendas.

The National Union of Education Employees reiterated its unwavering commitment to the higher interests of the educational community in the province, holding the provincial directorate fully accountable, and called on the educational workforce to rally around their union framework in defense of their rights, safeguarding their achievements, and thwarting all attempts to disrupt their just struggles.

The statement concluded with:
“Long live the educational workforce
Long live the National Union of Education Employees”
