A young girl was assaulted last Sunday with a sharp weapon (a razor blade) by a young man from her neighborhood after she decided to change her mind about marrying him, according to the victim’s mother in an exclusive statement to our newspaper.
The victim’s mother explained that the suspected young man had approached her daughter some time ago under the pretext of marriage. However, the girl recently informed him that she no longer wished to marry him for personal reasons, which he did not accept and began threatening her. According to the same source, the girl filed a complaint with the security services to protect herself.
The victim’s mother added that the young man came to their home on Sunday accompanied by his mother, who tried to persuade the girl to withdraw the complaint, but the victim refused. In a moment of distraction, the young man attacked her with the razor blade, causing a wound on her face.
The victim has since filed a new complaint with the security services regarding the assault she suffered, while investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances of the incident and to take the necessary legal measures against the suspect.
This incident highlights the phenomenon of violence related to refusal of marriage proposals in some areas and calls for intensified awareness efforts and legal protection for women and girls against all forms of violence.
