The case of the so-called “Ben Ahmed Killer” has taken a new turn following the completion of the detailed interrogation phase of the main suspect by the investigating judge at the Court of Appeal in Settat. The suspect is believed to be involved in one of the most gruesome crimes that shocked Moroccan public opinion, after human bones and limbs were discovered inside plastic bags in the restrooms of the Grand Mosque in Ben Ahmed.
After concluding the preliminary and detailed investigations, the case file was officially referred to the Public Prosecutor at the Court of Appeal, who had previously ordered the suspect’s detention in custody, pending the start of the trial proceedings in this complex case.
Local judicial police units in Ben Ahmed, supported by the Settat provincial division, launched an in-depth investigation under the supervision of the public prosecutor following the discovery of human remains inside the mosque’s restroom, which mobilized security forces in the city.
Forensic and technical police teams visited the crime scene, conducted thorough inspections, and seized several sharp weapons suspected to have been used in the commission of the crime.
Furthermore, searches carried out at the suspect’s residence, an elderly man, uncovered several movable personal belongings whose origins are under suspicion, potentially complicating the case further and revealing new leads in this horrific crime.
The judicial arena now awaits the commencement of the trial, which is expected to shed more light on the details of this shocking case that has deeply unsettled both the local community and the nation.
