Wide-Scale Campaign to Free Public Space in Al-Mustaqbal Neighborhood, Fez, Under the Directive of the Wali of Fes-Meknes

Following the instructions of Mr. Moaz Al-Jamoui, Wali of the Fes-Meknes region and Governor of Fez Prefecture, a large-scale campaign was launched on the morning of Wednesday, June 4, to liberate public property and combat various forms of illegal occupation and unsightly practices in public spaces.

The operation began at 10 a.m. and involved coordination between local authorities and their agents, members of the National Security assigned to the Fourth Security District, and the Auxiliary Forces. Additionally, a bulldozer from the Zouagha district was deployed for this purpose.

The campaign targeted the main streets and squares within the jurisdiction of the administrative annex, where street vendors were cleared from the main street of the Al-Mustaqbal neighborhood. Debris and gravel obstructing traffic were also removed. Furthermore, carpentry and welding workshops were instructed to operate strictly within their premises, prohibiting any use of public space for commercial activities.

During the campaign, several items occupying public property were seized and destroyed, including:

  • An iron stand used for motorcycles,
  • Iron cages used for selling scrap materials,
  • Four pulled carts (two wooden and two iron),
  • Ten electronic scales.

It is noteworthy that the pulled carts were returned to their owners after they signed commitments not to reoccupy public property.

This campaign reflects the ongoing efforts by local authorities in Fez to maintain public order, organize communal spaces, ensure smooth traffic flow, and improve the quality of life for residents.
