Extensive Campaign to Reclaim Railway Public Property in Al-Farah Following Instructions from the Governor of Fez Region

Fez – In implementation of the directives issued by the Governor of the Fez region aimed at reclaiming public property from all forms of encroachment and occupation, and combating negative phenomena affecting the city’s appearance, the local authority of Al-Farah administrative annex launched a wide campaign on the morning of June 3, 2025, to clear the railway public property adjacent to the Namaa industrial zone.

The operation was supervised by the head of the urban area, with the participation of police officers from the Fourth Security District, auxiliary forces, representatives from the National Railway Office, and agents from the Mikomar company.

During the campaign, encroachments that had lasted more than ten years were removed. Eight families from Douar Slaili, an unregistered category of residents, had occupied this railway area as their main residence along with their children. They had also constructed more than 12 sheep pens, which constituted their main source of livelihood.

As part of implementing the royal directives related to Eid al-Adha and the declaration of Fez as a city free of slums, the local authority demolished the livestock pens and adjacent makeshift shelters and worked on cleaning and clearing the railway surroundings.

This operation aims to restore order to public property and ensure the safety of public facilities, contributing to the improvement of the urban landscape in Fez and preserving the rights of all citizens to use public spaces legally and in an organized manner.
