Fez – Meat markets in the Mhaia area on the outskirts of Fez have seen significant demand from citizens as Eid al-Adha approaches. A local butcher confirmed that sales are strong and prices remain stable compared to previous periods.
The butcher explained that local meat, particularly lamb and goat, is available at reasonable prices, with a kilogram priced at around 90 dirhams. Imported meat is also available at lower prices, ranging between 75 and 80 dirhams per kilogram. He added that the price for a whole sheep (Dawara) ranges between 300 and 400 dirhams.
The butcher emphasized that demand remains steady and that traders are working daily to meet customers’ needs while avoiding sudden price hikes to ensure customer satisfaction and sustain business activity.
This situation reflects market stability in Mhaia, Fez, with ample supply of locally sourced meat—preferred by consumers—amid calls for ethical business practices and consumer rights protection during this important religious occasion.
