Moroccan National Coach Regragui Announces “Atlas Lions” Squad for Tunisia and Benin Friendlies Ahead of AFCON 2025

Moroccan national team coach, Walid Regragui, officially unveiled the squad list for the upcoming international friendlies against Tunisia and Benin, scheduled for June 6 and 9 respectively. These matches are part of the national team’s preparation for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which will be hosted by Morocco in December.

The announcement was made during a press conference held on Tuesday, May 27, at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Salé. The list includes several top stars of the “Atlas Lions,” notably Brahim Díaz of Real Madrid and Achraf Hakimi of Paris Saint-Germain, along with a number of promising young talents. A few regulars were left out due to injury.

The training camp will kick off on Sunday, June 2, at the Mohammed VI Complex, with three training sessions scheduled for June 2, 3, and 4. The team will then travel to Fez on Wednesday, June 5, for the official training session at the Fez Grand Stadium.

Morocco will face Tunisia in the first friendly match on Thursday, June 6, followed by the second match against Benin on Sunday, June 9, both kicking off at 9:00 PM at the same venue.

This training phase is a key part of the national team’s preparation strategy aimed at boosting physical readiness and tactical cohesion, as Moroccan fans eagerly anticipate a strong continental performance on home soil at AFCON 2025.
