Morocco-France: Key Takeaways from the Working Meeting Between Laftit and Retailleau (Video)

Rabat hosted a bilateral working meeting between the Moroccan Minister of the Interior, Abdelouafi Laftit, and his French counterpart, Bruno Retailleau, who was on a two-day working visit to the Kingdom. This meeting marked an important step in strengthening security cooperation between the two friendly countries and addressed a number of issues of mutual interest.

The discussions between the two ministers primarily focused on ways to develop cooperation in the field of combating irregular migration, particularly concerning the issue of individuals subject to deportation orders from French territory. The two sides also reviewed mechanisms to enhance cooperation in the field of regular migration, in a way that serves the interests of both countries and respects the rights of individuals.

In addition, combating organized crime in all its forms, confronting terrorist threats, and tackling drug trafficking networks were key topics of this meeting. The ministers emphasized the need to exchange experiences and information and coordinate joint efforts to address these security challenges that threaten regional stability.
